How to customize Gmail
Customizing Gmail is really very simple, since Google's email service offers all the tools to make the graphical interface of the site truly personal. Many settings are hidden and therefore difficult to seeBut by carefully reading the lines proposed below, we will be able to customize Gmail to be more immediate to use, especially in the workplace.
Turn off Meet and Hangouts
The first additional services that we can immediately remove from the left sidebar are Meet and Hangouts, especially if we don't intend to use them. To continue, let's go to the Gmail website, log in with our Google account, hit the gear icon at the top right, click See all settings and finally go to the card Chat and meetings.
On the page that will appear we apply the check mark in Hangouts disabled mi Hide the Meeting section in the main menu, then we press Save Changes. Now, finally, Gmail will take care of email only, with no other secondary Google services that go unused.
Edit the tags and categories
Another customization that we can apply refers to the labels that appear in the left sidebar of Gmail and the categories in which the emails are attached; not all of the items mentioned are helpful and sometimes even redundant. To manage tags and categories, let's go back to the menu See all settings (as seen in the previous chapter) and open the tab Tags.
From this screen we can eliminate the elements that we do not appreciate by clicking on the element hide; if instead we want some element to be visible, we can choose the element exposure both choose the voice show if not read (for some tags only), so that only the tags we want are one click away. The labels will not disappear completely, they will only be hidden: to see them simply press the More menu in the left sidebar.
If instead we want to customize the categories that appear on the Gmail home page (next to the category Main Menu, which cannot be deleted), just open the Inbox tab from the menu See all settings.
We can delete everything (and read emails only in category Main Menu) or leave only one or two categories, to have everything under control and avoid having to disperse the content of the emails. If we want to create new custom labels and display them in the sidebar, all we have to do is expand the left sidebar (by pressing the hamburger icon in the upper left), click on Other, scroll through the list and finally click Create new tag. After creating our label, click on Manage Labels (present in the same bar) and click on exposure next to the name chosen for the new tag, so you can always have it one click away.
Set a mailbox theme and style in Gmail
If we really love customizing our workspace, Gmail can be customized with a few preset themes and different styles, to become a beautiful and easy-to-use tool in just a few clicks. To change the theme and style of the box, all we have to do is press the gear icon in the upper right and scroll through the missing window, so you can immediately choose the graphic design.
Alternatively we can take us to the menu. See all settings, open the tab Themes And keep going Set theme, so you can choose the graphics we want to apply.
Install new plugins
On the right side of the Gmail website we find a thin bar, where there are Google extensions that can be integrated into the mail service. We will basically find Google calendar, Keep mi Tasks, but by pressing the + icon we can add one of the many add-ons compatible with Gmail.
As you can see in the image above, we can find the plugin to integrate Zoom and other video conferencing services, but also extensions for the cloud, extensions for remote tasks and note managers and much more.
Gmail is just seemingly spartan and not very customizable - as extensively shown in the previous chapters, we can literally change every aspect of the interface and manage the labels and categories in which emails are sorted, as well as disable little features. used as Meet and Hangouts.
